Inhoud |
The basic concepts of NMR spectroscopy are introduced in this course. Important aspects of a spectroscopic measurement, such as sensitiviy, resolution, specificity, etc. are here discussed from a theoretical as well as an experimental point of view. In order to introduce the students to practical aspects of NMR spectra acquisition, I employ a virtual NMR spectrometer, i.e. software that can simulate the functionality of a real NMR apparatus. The simulated NMR spectra are extremely sensitive to the (virtual) experimental setup. The students are asked to apply their knowledge of NMR theory to optimize spectral acquisition and to interpret the results of their (virtual) measurements. |
