Cursusdoelen

At the end of the course you are able to:

  • describe the mechanisms by which different types of cell surface receptors convert an extracellular signal into an intracellular chemical change
  • apply a basic understanding of nonlinear dynamics to build mathematical models of biological systems
  • answer examination questions using a self-constructed and approved MATLAB/Simulink model of receptor-induced cytosolic Ca2+ signaling
  • explain the specific contribution of Molecular Life Sciences to the field of bio(medical) research
Bijzonderheden
Participation to this course is only possible if you can be present at all scheduled activities.
Toetsinformatie
The final grade is based on the written reports for the first and third part of the course and a written exam for the second part.

Presence at lectures and (computer) practicals is mandatory. Absence (though illness) needs to be communicated with the coordinator before start of the activity. You can only finish a computer model if it is checked and approved by the lecturer.A final grade is only given if all reports have been handed in, the computer assignment is approved and the written exam has been made.
