At the end of the course you are able to:
- describe the different principles on which biosensors for live-cell spectrophotofluorimetry and fluorescence microscopy are based
- apply this knowledge to design and conduct a spectrophotofluorimetrical experiment to determine the energy state of living cells
- evaluate the results of this experiment and present them in written
- describe the mechanism of mitochondrial energy production
- apply this knowledge to understand the aberrant biochemical processes in cells of patients with inherited malfunction of the mitochondrial energy production system
- read and interpret scientific literature and present the main message of an article in a ‘journal club’
