| After this course, you are able to:
- describe and use the electronic structure of the elements using a quantum mechanical description of atoms
- explain and predict molecular bonds and molecular properties in a qualitative way using various practical models for molecular bonding
- identify the interactions that may exist between simple molecules on the basis of the molecular and electronic structure
|
| In this course, a first insight is given into how chemical bonds in molecules can be described. First the question will be addressed of what quantum mechanics (in qualitative terms) learns us about the electronic structure of atoms and how this knowledge can be used to understand and predict the bonds between atoms and the interactions between molecules.
