Aims
  • The student is able to construct mathematical models for some practical situations,
  • solve practical problems with them
  • and give written and oral reports about their results,
  • both for fellow mathematicians and customers.
Content
The goal of this course is to gain experience with the application of mathematics to practical problems. 

The first two weeks the groups are made and the problems divided among the groups. The following fourteen weeks the students work in groups on substantial modeling problems, some of which come from external customers. Half way a preliminary account is given to the respective customers. The project ends in final reports, both for fellow mathematicians and the organization posing the question, and in a final presentation.
Essentially all mathematics is considered eligible for application, as long as it has been discussed at the end of the second year, or can be aquired at this level fairly easily.

De inleidende wiskundevakken: Calculus, Lineaire Algebra, Kansrekening, Inl. Statistiek en Gewone Differentiaal Vergelijkingen.

Deze geschiedt op basis van opgaven, activiteit in de werkgroep, en het vervaardigde eindrapport.

Grading is done on the basis of tasks, activity in the Working Group, and final report.

The introductory math courses: Calculus, Lineair Algebra, Probability, Introduction to Statistics en Ordinary Differential Equations
